HP Acquires Autonomy for $ 10.4 Billion

HP's management today announced a major deal regarding the acquisition of Autonomy’s assets. The purchase was made through the acquisition of shares of Autonomy, HP now owns 87.3% of all shares of the British software company. The deal is part of HP’s plan to stop developing its own webOS OS and computer production. Instead, the corporation will now be engaged in the creation of all sorts of "cloud" services and infrastructure software.

HP’s intention to change its development strategy became known in August (at the same time, information appeared on the company's desire to acquire Autonomy). But the deal was completed only this week. Interestingly, immediately after the appearance of information about the desire of HP to purchase Autonomy, the shares of the latter began to go up. Now the cost of one share of Autonomy is 25.5 pounds, which is about 87.3% higher than the shares were worth before the announcement of the transaction (around the beginning of August).

It is worth noting that Autonomy remains autonomous, so that the leadership of this company, as it looked in the water, called his brainchild exactly that way. Some HP shareholders are not very happy with the purchase, believing that the cost of Autonomy is very high (in fact, the way it is). But now nothing can be done, the deal is made.

HP management has already stated that the new acquisition of the company significantly expands its capabilities, and allows you to act according to the previously outlined plan. Also stated that HP is on the threshold of a new era, and, apparently, the way it is.
