Amazon is considering buying webOS

The other day Forbes published interesting information that Amazon is considering the possibility of acquiring webOS, a mobile platform, the future of which is still very vague. The likelihood that Amazon will still decide to buy is pretty high. About this, as always, said "sources close to the leadership of Amazon." In principle, now quite often there are news that some company is going to purchase webOS, but then it turns out that these are just rumors (as is the case with Samsung). However, with Amazon and webOS everything is serious.

Despite the fact that the 7-inch tablet Kindle Fire has won the approval of those who have already familiarized themselves with the device, Amazon is now working on the creation of a 10.1-inch model. It may well be that for this model or for any others that appear in the future, Amazon will decide to use the webOS platform. It’s not as open as Android, and if Amazon wants to release something like an iPad, you’ll still have to use a closed OS.

In addition, it is not the "closeness" of the OS that plays a major role in Amazon’s desire to acquire an abandoned HP business branch. In fact, webOS offers much of what is not yet in the Kindle Fire. These are PIM functions that are now almost in every toothbrush, but for some reason they are not in the Kindle Fire. We are talking about the calendar, email, organizer and so on. As far as can be judged, everything is perfectly organized in webOS, perhaps even better than in competing mobile operating systems.

By the way, not so long ago, HP executive director John Rubinstein said that Amazon and the webOS division could be excellent partners. It is likely that behind this statement lies something more than the desire to compliment Amazon. In any case, it would be nice to see that the now abandoned webOS division at HP will be able to show everything that this mobile OS is capable of.
