Amazing duplicity showed Facebook. After the recent scandal with cookies that operate after logging out on facebook.com , everyone was assured that the company does not in any way follow users on other sites. On September 25, Facebook comments wereposted in various media outlets.
But it turned out that at the same time, the US patent office received a patent application , which describes how to track user activity on sites outside of the social network (Communicating Information). The application date is September 22, 2011.
It is difficult to explain why to patent technology that you are not going to use. Most likely, in the future such functionality may actually appear on Facebook, although now they can honestly say that in no way do they do anything like that. ')
