Full-size paper model car "Ford Mustang"

New York artist Jonathan Brand (Jonathan Brand) conceived the unthinkable: he decided to combine his two hobbies - working with paper and fussing with "classic" cars like the 1969 Ford Mustang.

More specifically, he decided to assemble the 1969 Ford Mustang entirely out of paper. Not only the outer frame, but also every single inner part, including the motor, wheels, doors, seats and other parts.

Work began with a detailed three-dimensional drawing on the computer. Jonathan then used a large-format printer to print “layers” of paper, which he carefully cut first, then numbered and gradually glued the PVA glue on top of one another. Thus, the artist created a very complex real model of every single detail from seemingly “two-dimensional” paper printouts.

The project’s page on Jonathan’s website is titled “One Piece at a Time”, borrowed from a Johnny Cash song about an employee of the Detroit Cadillac assembly line, who once dreamed of getting himself one of the cars he assembles, and decided to steal the "Cadillac" in parts, collecting it already outside the plant.

Brand's body, steering wheel, seats, engine, wheels with tires, doors and any small things are ready. At the same time, the detailing simply amazes the imagination - how many layers did it glue together ?! I look forward to the completion of this mega-project.
