At the beginning of the summer, we released the ABBYY TextGrabber app for the iPhone - a powerful and at the same time simple text extraction tool that many people liked. And today we are pleased to present you a new version, which took into account the wishes and recommendations of our users. We ourselves use our own products, so we are always very happy when you give us an interesting idea for improving the product or an unusual usage scenario. We scrupulously add all such requests to the reclamation database - our bulletin summary, and then the developers add the most popular and interesting features to the product.
So, what has changed in the new version?
They made the interface more convenient, including placing buttons for choosing recognition languages, turning on / off the flash and framing the image directly on the screen of photography. ')
Added the ability to save useful text in Evernote in just a couple of clicks or share it with friends on Twitter or Facebook. Yes, and just send the recognized text via SMS now also can be directly from the application.
Many of our users use TG in conjunction with online translators, and we ourselves have often translated the text in this way. In this case, the sequence of actions is not so simple: take a photo, recognize, copy the text into the translator, get the result. But it is much more convenient when the text can be translated directly in the application! Just a couple of clicks - and before the eyes is already the result in their own language, which can be edited and sent to friends. Like this:
This is how TextGrabber + Translator appeared - a mobile scanner and a pocket translator “in one bottle”. We chose Google Translate as an online translation service, given the broad language support.
At the end of the post, I want to say thanks to our users, who did not just write “good” or “bad”, but gave specific instructions on what they lack in the application. By the way, many of them told about very interesting and original examples of using the application. Here are some of them:
"Helps a lot!“... if it is an account statement from a bank in the form of a scan, then after recognition it can be copied to a clipboard and opened in an office editor to create .xls” - Baby, App Store Russia
“... Wife wanted a recipe from a magazine at the checkout lane.Saved me the cost of the magazine!... "- Andrew Suhr, App Store USA
“The first picture I was a dentist office ...” - SmackDabb, App Store USA
“I’m a college student who wants to take notes but I don’t like it?no more typing !!! ”- Wattsbros, App Store USA “Note on bus! ..” - Note Fanatic !, App Store USA
We are waiting for new unusual ideas from you, but for now we offer to watch a small demo video! :)
