Everyone remembers the hype when Macs began to be made on the basis of Intel processors, abandoning IBM’s “stones”. Some enthusiasts offered their (naturally, not legal) methods for running MacOS X on a regular PC. To do this, it was necessary to download an image for VMWare, some patches that bypass the hardware check, dance with a tambourine during the installation of the OS ...
In an interview with
CNN, VMWare executive director Dian Green confirmed the enthusiasts using MacOS X on PC to use their product, noting that VMWare developers did not take any action to support this operating system. Green also said that their company, at a loss, did not allow MacOS X to run on the PC, as the guys from Cupertino did not want to see their OS installed in the gray box. But no matter how Jobs and the company struggled with the spread of the practice of running MacOS X on a PC, sooner or later they will lose, because there are no technical problems to run MacOS X on the gray horse.
SWSoft (developer of Parallels - software for virtualization) was not long in coming. Sergey Belousov, the head of the company, said that in the near future, their software will allow Apple to run the operating system on a PC, thereby freeing users from the chore of the actions described in the first paragraph.
I wonder how Jobs will comment out such statements? Maybe that moment will come when MacOS X can be quite legally purchased for an ordinary PC?
