Android Hackathon in Almaty and Astana on October 1-2, 2011

Almaty GTUG - “Almaty community of users of Google technologies”, invites you to take part in the first Kazakhstan two-day Android hackathon .

Hackathon is a competition among development teams of 2-3 people who implement their idea. The purpose of the hackathon is to create a working application or prototype within a theme defined by several criteria. The theme of this hackathon is Android applications, and detailed criteria will be announced directly on the hackathon so that no one can prepare for the competition in advance, and all teams are in equal starting conditions.

The hackathon will be held simultaneously in two cities - Almaty and Astana from 10:00 to 18:00 from October 1st to 2nd. Between cities will be a video broadcast using Google Hangout.

The prize is to organize the trip of the winning team to the large-scale conference of developers of Google Developers Day 2011, which will be held on October 10 in Moscow. The trip will provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the most interesting people, see the latest innovations in Google technologies, be inspired by new ideas and significantly expand your own world view!

The terms of participation:
- A team can not have more than 3 people, one participant acts as a captain and is responsible for coordinating the actions of the whole team;
- Any interested developers with even little programming experience can take part. If there is no experience, we will conduct an introductory technology seminar, see below.
- All teams must have a laptop, an Android device and a network extender (number of sockets is limited);

Venues:
Almaty - Kazakh-British Technical University ;
Astana - Eurasian National University. Gumilev .

The order of the hackathon:
- the beginning of October 1 at 10:00;
- The 15-minute opening, from Mountain View, is greeted by Roman Nurik , a well-known Android lawyer;
- 15-minute description of the conditions of the competition;
- 1 hour for discussion of ideas, by the end of the hour it is necessary to fix the name of the project and give a short description of the functional;
- lunch (however during lunch you can also do coding); for Almaty, lunch will be brought directly to the audience;
- the remaining 1.5 days of coding session with a break for dinner, rest and lunch. Participants will be available marker boards. The premises will be at our disposal from 10:00 to 18:00;
- the project must be submitted by 17:00 on October 2nd. Within one hour, our jury will determine the best idea and its implementation according to the approved criteria and at 18:00 the winner will be announced.

We believe that in everyday use mobile devices will replace their desktop counterparts, which means the application market has a promising future. But this market needs to be developed, in particular, to prepare developers and hold such competitions. From this all will remain in the black - consumers, developers, manufacturers and realtors.
