After reading the
materials of yesterday ’s planning
meeting on the Mozilla Foundation website, I easily noticed the mention of the appearance of the
release candidate (that is, the beginning of the pre-release testing of the browser) Firefox 7. The appearance of the new
beta version and the new
alpha version (Aurora) is scheduled for the next Tuesday (September 27, 2011), it is therefore appropriate to predict that Firefox 7 will be released on the same day or, at worst, a little later.
Of course, it's time for web developers to get ready for this event. So having judged, I went to open the article “
Firefox 7 for developers ” on the website MDN, and at the same time “
Firefox 8 for developers ”, because I myself intend to transfer to a new beta on Tuesday.
Perhaps the most long-awaited new Firefox 7 will be the support of
text-overflow , the absence of which has plagued many. As for Firefox 8, its most significant feature will be the ability to create context menus in HTML5, which
I already reported on at Habrahabr in August.
