Google Voice is tested in Europe

The European Pirate Summit start-up conference in Cologne (Germany) unexpectedly honored with its presence Jens Redmer, director of business development at Google in Europe. He took part in the Ask Google question-and-answer session for entrepreneurs and businessmen.

One of the questions was about Google Voice - a telecommunications service that provides the ability to connect together all the user's phone numbers to one Google number, accessible from any phone (mobile, home, work). In addition to free calls within the country, the user receives cheap international VoIP, call forwarding from phone to phone, including during a call, automatic recognition of voice messages and saving them as text and many other very convenient features. Unfortunately, the full-fledged version of Google Voice (with the selection of a Google meter for all phones) is available only for US residents. But that may change soon.

Jens Redmer admitted that Google Voice is already being tested by Google’s European divisions , and the company is taking “concrete steps” to launch it in Europe. Apparently, the problems here are not of a technical, but rather of an administrative and legal nature.
