The competition is a logical continuation of Chrome Hackathons, which took place on 27-28 August 2011 in 10 cities of Russia and the CIS countries. The final and the award will take place on
Google Developer Day on October 10 in Moscow.
The challenge of the competition
Development of applications and extensions for the Google Chrome browser based on user
suggestions .
Conditions of the competition
- Developed applications and extensions should not repeat existing ones (but may be an improvement or modernization of existing solutions).
- Developments are evaluated by relevance to the tasks of users and the complexity of the technical implementation.
- Please note that extensions should fall under the category Browser Actions or Page Actions; in this technical competition, we do not consider extensions such as Themes or Override Pages.
- The competition is held in several stages: development, qualifying stage, presentation, final.
Development
The stage started on the 28th of August, immediately after the end of the hackathon in 10 cities, where more than 40 projects were demonstrated.
The last day of the stage is September 30th, before this date, developers need to:
Qualifying stage
From October 1 to October 5, there will be a closed qualifying round, during which Google will recommend the best works for presentations in the office of Google Russia. The selection results will be published on October 6 during the day on the
official Google Russia blog .

Presentations and DemoFest
October 9th, Google Russia office in Moscow. At this stage, your applications / extensions are already considered special, you are one step away from victory!
In order to impress the jury, you will need to make a presentation of the work done, the time for one presentation is 5-10 minutes. We recommend placing the following information on slides:
- description of the idea on which you worked;
- show the team working on the project;
- how the project started and how it improved during the work on it, in other words, it is necessary to show the progress during the development;
- details of the technical solution, the technology used;
- How many users of the application are according to Google Chrome Webstore statistics
- plans for further development;
- Contact details;
- Don't forget the slide: “Thank you! Questions?
The Googlers, gathered from all over the world at
GDD 2011 , will evaluate the work done and will select the 5 best projects. What projects have been selected, the contestants will learn at
GDD 2011 .
Additional points will add the following (optional) points, which also should be included in the presentation:
- blogging (on blogger.com or in Google Plus Plus ) on the progress of the development of the application (this will allow the jury to understand that the work has been done really well)
Final and award
October 10th,
Google Developer Day 2011 .
On the main stage will be awarded. The developers of the 3 best projects will receive Mac Book Air (the prize will be issued upon presentation of a passport and consist of 2 parts: a computer and a tax; the amount of tax on the hands will not be issued and will be transferred to the budget to meet the requirements of the RF tax legislation) and 2 more projects will receive incentive prizes.
