Microsoft has signed new licensees for Android patents.

Microsoft has entered into two new licensing agreements for the use of its patents for the release of Android-tablets and smartphones. This time, Acer ( press release ) and ViewSonic ( press release ) agreed to pay the tribute.

Earlier, HTC, General Dynamics, Wistron and Onkyo and others pledged to pay $ 5-10 per each sold smartphone and tablet, negotiations with Samsung are still going on in the range of $ 10 to $ 15 per device.

In accordance with a simple calculation , licensing revenues from the sale of Android devices for Microsoft can reach one billion US dollars in 2012 fiscal year, if all manufacturers can be signed. Thus, the Android operating system can be a significant revenue stream for a software corporation.
