The other day it became known that hundreds of sites whose owners used Go Daddy's hosting company have been compromised. All this is the work of unknown yet malicious attackers who have redirected to hacked sites, transferring visitors from a regular site to a site with malicious software. The total number of compromised sites is 445. In principle, this is not so much when you consider the total number of resources hosted on the company's hosting. But still, this incident hurts Go Daddy's reputation. But the company has already complained about it for a long time, both the owners of domains that use the corresponding Go Daddy services and the owners of sites.
Almost immediately after the discovery of the fact that the websites were compromised, Todd Redfoot, who holds the position of director of information security for Go Daddy, made an official appeal. He also said that according to the company's specialists, a massive hacking of sites followed by the installation of a redirect was made on Wednesday. The method used by hackers to gain access to the client side of the service remains unknown.

Redfoot also reported that most likely, such an incident is not the result of any problems with the shared hosting infrastructure. All affected customers are already receiving help from the company, and the malicious code has been removed. As mentioned above, the visitor who came to the hacked site was redirected to a resource where the visitor’s computer was infected with some kind of malware. What kind of malicious software was installed, Redfoot found it difficult to explain.
According to the company's management, now Go Daddy is conducting a large-scale investigation of the incident, in order to clarify all the circumstances of the incident. The total number of sites hosted by Go Daddy is 5 million.
