After the dismissal of Carol Bartz, Yahoo’s shares rose slightly in price - immediately after the news of the dismissal by 6%, and within a few days, another 6%. Nevertheless, it is difficult to say that the current situation with Yahoo is satisfactory - there is no general director yet, development programs also seem not. And in the light of recent events, it is not surprising that Yahoo began to receive offers from various companies to sell the whole company or any part of it.
The other day there was information that the Yahoo management met with representatives of the Silver Lake Partners investment fund, and at the meeting the conversation directly related to the possible conditions for the sale of Yahoo. So far this is only the earliest stage of negotiations, there are no concrete conditions yet. However, the fact that such negotiations are possible, suggests that a lucrative proposal of any party may tip the balance of the opinion of Yahoo’s management towards the sale of the corporation (or some part of it).
The Yahoo management has already stated that there will be no rush in the matter of the possible sale of the company's assets, and this is so far only a point for discussion. In addition, Yahoo at a meeting of board members discussed the possibility of profile purchases by Yahoo. Perhaps the corporation itself will buy any services / companies, if it deems it necessary to conduct its business.

It is worth noting that Yahoo has several foreign assets, including a 40% share in the Chinese group Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., and 35% in Yahoo Japan (this unit is considered autonomous). These assets are both a plus and a minus. The advantage is that the corporation still has a stake in profitable and active foreign companies. The downside is. that these assets are difficult for the potential buyer of Yahoo itself. If the company’s management suddenly comes to the conclusion that it is necessary to sell Yahoo, they will first have to sell their shares in Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. and Yahoo Japan, and then sell everything else.
Now the total cost of Yahoo is about 18 billion dollars.
