Intel and Google optimize Android for x86 architecture
At the Intel Developer Forum yesterday, Intel and Google announced that they would jointly optimize future versions of Android OS for smartphones and tablets using Intel chipsets.
True, there are no such chipsets on the market yet. The IDF showed a tablet on the Medfield chipset (third-generation Atom processor) running Android 3.0. These devices should go on sale in I quarter. 2012. Working with Google and optimizing the OS for the x86 architecture will help Intel to quickly enter the market and, perhaps, gain a competitive advantage over manufacturers of ARM processors who do not have such friendly relations with Google. ')
On the Android + Medfield platform, they plan to make not only tablets, but also smartphones.
