AMD Bulldozer New World Record Overclocking Processors
Yesterday, with the permission of AMD, the first reliable results of overclocking a new generation of AMD processors, known under the code name Bulldozer, flowed to the Internet. We still will not see the performance results, but AMD guarantees us beautiful numbers.
A team of AMD engineers led by a Finnish employee of the company and well-known overclocker Macci , as well as American guru of overclocking AMD Chew platforms, in August 2011 set a new absolute world record for overclocking processors. The AMD FX-8150 processor was overclocked when cooled with liquid helium to a frequency of 8,429 MHz , and the record was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.

Details of the experiment under the cut.
The announcement of AMD Bulldozer processors was repeatedly postponed, first the public was promised to start selling in mid-August, then the date of September 19 appeared on one of the company's promotional banners, but now it is known for sure that officially the new generation of processors will be presented in October. Naturally, the constant postponement of the announcement dates have a negative impact on the attitude of consumers to the product, more and more diminishing its possibilities. A few days ago, the first Intel Sandy-E generation processor test results appeared on the Internet, which may have prompted AMD to take decisive action.
Many analysts have long suggested that AMD still will not be able to compete on equal performance in equal frequencies with Intel processors. After all, if AMD were able to overtake Intel for the first time in recent years, the information would be accurately leaked to the Internet. But since the results are kept in the strictest secrecy, there can be no question of a full-fledged struggle. But with the acceleration in frequency of the new AMD processors, as it turned out, everything is in order.
In an interview with the resource NordicHardwareMacci reveals the details of the conquest of a new record. When asked how many processors were tested to conquer the world record, an AMD employee responded that in Finland he checked seven AMD FX-8150 processors and 4 of them were able to conquer the 8 GHz bar. The processor used for the record was randomly selected from a pallet with processors and has never been tested on air or on nitrogen before. To conquer the world record, the temperature properties of liquid nitrogen turned out to be insufficient and liquid helium was used. The temperature at the time of the record was -235 degrees Celsius !!!
Naturally, not everyone will be able to use such methods of cooling to achieve high frequencies, so the main question that most users are interested in is, what frequency can the AMD FX-8150 processors obey when using air cooling. According to the authors of the experiment, the frequency of validation of CPU-Z and the frequency stable 24 hours 7 days a week varies greatly from each other. So most of the tested samples were able to conquer the validation of CPU-Z over 5 GHz in the air, and the best was conquered by the frequency of 5.5 GHz. But for full stability at frequencies close to 5 GHz, very good air cooling is required.
A new record has brought hope to the hearts of AMD fans to continue the competition between AMD and Intel. And we just have to wait for the first performance test results !!!
