A week ago, the coordinator of the famous
RosYam project announced the opening of the site’s source code (PHP scripts) under a BSD-like license: compatriots, decided to choose a license more free. Anyone can download the source code for free, use it in any way, use it in their projects, including commercial and private ones, ”said a representative of the Greensight web-studio, which developed the site.
The repository on Mercurial is located at
hg.rosyama.ru . Cloning:
hg clone http://hg.rosyama.ru rosyama-local /
Upgrading to the new version - with the
hg pull command. Support and updating of the project continue, the repository is open only on pull. The bug tracker operates at trac.rosyama.ru.
')
The price of the development of "RosYamy" is about
200,000 rubles. Given the cost and
public importance of the project, the transition to Open Source is welcome, despite all the negative aspects.
And now about the negative points. The main reason for criticism is the CMS used, which has nothing to do with Open Source. Unfortunately for adherents of free code, CMS Bitrix is used here. The developers
explain their choice of CMS in this way: “When we started work on RosYoma, we didn’t assume that we would ever open the source code, well, we took Bitrix“ by inertia ”- we are used to working with it. A substantial part of the Greensight Studio budget is the sale of Bitrix sites with custom design and components to corporate clients. I agree with those who say: “Bitrix is a helpless monstrous epic,” but we don’t have our own CMS, and Bitrix has authorization via social networks, so it provides RosYam with all the basic functionality ”
(vocabulary and spelling are saved without changes) .
Thus, in order to clone a project, you need to buy at least the minimum Bitrix license (except for the minimal one for two information blocks).
The project is implemented as a separate module, which contains a description of static classes with functions of the basic functionality. This module can be installed through the Bitrix admin panel. The folder bitrix / components / greensight components are located.
Nobody interferes, in principle, to port the project to another platform, for example, WordPress.
