The other day, LG announced the start of mass production of the KC1 smartphone that supports the new WiBro (Wireless Broadband) cellular standard. It is known that WiBro was developed by Korean firm Samsung based on the WiMAX wireless standard. The advantages of WiBro are low power consumption and the ability to “communicate” with base stations at a distance of 1.5 km at a speed of 30 Mbps - 50 Mbps. Other interesting technical and software features of the KC1 include the Windows Mobile 5.0 platform, a 2.8-inch LCD screen, a Bluetooth wireless module, an SD card slot, and the ability to watch DMB-TV digital television programs. The smartphone will operate on a 800 MHz Marvell Monahans processor.
