A new version of Bluetooth is coming

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group organization in its entirety left autographs under the main specifications of the new Bluetooth version - Version 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate). Differences from version 2.0 is not so very much, but they are. So the manufacturers of glands have a good reason to soon submit old devices with a new sauce, attracting users with new features.

So, in the new revision of the Bluetooth interface, the developers emphasize the following features. First, the process of pairing devices will be simplified and reduced to the minimum number of necessary actions. Secondly, there will be an opportunity to automatically connect audio devices (for example, headphones). Third, a more reliable protection against external attacks will appear. Fourthly, the system of energy saving will be significantly advanced, so that in some cases the device operation time will be noticeably increased. But with speed, apparently, no changes will occur. Alas.

It sounds promising. It remains only to wait for the first devices with Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR support.
