New colors of 2GIS online maps
From September 6, 2GIS online maps are presented in new (lighter) colors for all 133 cities where the company operates. Compared to the previous gamut developed in 2001, the selected neutral colors are more comfortable for perception and allow you to display a lot of information over - the location of organizations, routes, etc.
In the new colors of the map, as in the previous ones, different types of buildings (under construction, residential, administrative buildings, schools, kindergartens, garages and industrial facilities) and urban areas (residential quarters, private sector, administrative territory, “industrial zones”, garages, green spaces, cottage areas, cemeteries).

Since development in most Russian cities is of typical nature, experienced cartographers can determine the purpose of a number of buildings and territories already at the stage of decoding satellite imagery — for example, typical residential buildings, kindergartens and schools, and industrial zones. All this information is then verified and supplemented directly on the spot, and also correlated with the data of the directory of organizations.
In addition to the main objects, the smallest, but very important parts of the urban development — the inner driveways, fences, kiosks, paths in parks and entrances at the metro station — are put on the 2GIS maps. As close as possible, the numbers of all houses are signed, and on a medium scale, the location of the metro lines is indicated. Together with the color distinction between the types of buildings and territories, this ensures the high information content of 2GIS maps and helps to better navigate cities.
Recall that on the 2GIS maps there is a great opportunity - you can click into any building, even in a small kiosk or in the “wing” of a complex building. The prompt will show the address of the building along with the zip code, its purpose (“residential building”, “sports facility”, etc.) and the name, if any, as well as a link to the list of organizations in this building.

The cartographic API, on which we are currently working, will also be released in new colors - it will be much more convenient to supplement 2GIS cards with this or that information.
