The other day we released the next version of our client’s Java version. Changes in it are more cosmetic, it’s boring to talk about them, although it has become more convenient for active users.
It is more interesting to talk about what has always been, but, most likely, it is not known to many.

The client is available in five languages: English, German, Russian, Czech and Bulgarian.
Depending on the phone model, knowing the amount of available memory and other features of the device, we offer 18 different program assemblies. The selection of the assembly is carried out automatically at the loading stage, based on the User Agent and other typical HTTP request headers. If the phone model cannot be determined from them, the user gets the most basic version, it will at least work, albeit without transferring files.

The Russian version includes Maps@Mail.Ru and online shows traffic jams in some indecently large number of cities (so far only Russian).
The multiprotocol client, except for ICQ itself, supports Mail.Ru Agent and Jabber, and the most popular Jabber networks (vkontakte, gtalk, ...) are made in separate lines in the menu with beautiful icons.
Download the new client at the old place:
www.icq.com/download/mobile/java/ruPS: no, we are not planning on switching to XMPP, all my thoughts on this subject can be read in the comments to any previous post about ICQ.
PPS: Yes, many use the official client under J2ME, and its popularity is growing.
PPPS: there is no advertising in the Java version and its introduction is not planned.
