Background mode in Google Chrome

In the latest versions of Chrome added work extensions in the background. Now, even with Chrome closed, installed extensions with background pages, such as GMail Checker, RSS notifier and others, will work in the background.
What does this mean for the end user? This means that you do not have to constantly keep the browser on in order not to miss any event, as it will always be on, and Chrome will launch faster.
This feature is optional and easily disabled.
