
Google Executive Director Larry Page continues the “autumn purge”, as Google representatives call the dissolution of some of Google’s businesses. All this is done in order to focus on the main areas of work, leaving the secondary ones. Aardvark - will close gradually.
Desktop - closes September 14th. In addition to this product, associated APIs, services, plugins, gadgets and support will be closed.
Google Maps API for Flash will still function, but new functions will not be added, critical errors will be corrected, regressions (not sure how to translate correctly) and security issues will be addressed. There will be support for premier clients, which the developers of the Maps API for Flash forum will lose.
Google Pack - programs will be available through direct links.
Google Web Security - while continuing to support existing customers.
Notebook - will close gradually over the coming months. After closing the user's notebook, all data will be automatically exported to Google Docs. When the data transfer begins, the notepad will be read only. Complete removal of notebooks is planned for 2012.
Sidewiki - authors will be notified about the closing details in the coming weeks and they will have several months to download their content.
Subscribed Links - until September 15, developers can access the service and upload their data.
