IFA 2011, day 3: Acer Aspire 3951
The press day of the IFA-2011 exhibition was held in the best traditions of spy movies: with secret passages, winding staircases, and devious ways, we moved from one stand under construction to another, agreed with the builders and guards and looked for new products. Not allowed everywhere, so I had to be cunning. The most implacable turned out to be representatives of the company Acer - well, no way they did not want to show their new ultra-thin laptop Aspire S3. But after a two-hour game of spies, we still managed to agree:
The success of the new MacBook Air does not give rest to anyone, and now all manufacturers have given up on creating their own analogues. The Acer Aspire S3, also known as the Aspire 3951, is exactly that. The outlines of the case are recognizable, about the "aluminum" and "unibadievy" we also somewhere heard. However, even despite this, the product from Acer turned out to be interesting and worthy of close attention. Not all the same nibble apples, at the end of it all.

The case of the Acer Aspire S3 is made of fashionable now a single piece of aluminum. A couple of new models, and solid pieces of aluminum will be listed in the Red Book.
The strength of the body is felt immediately, it is very pleasant to the touch.
The opening angle of the lid is very large, and the hinges are moderately tight, but somewhere around 150 degrees the lid no longer holds, and slowly, under its weight, goes down. This is the only moment that alerted the laptop, but for mass production it will probably be fixed.
The ports are sparse: only two USB 2.0 and one HDMI are all on the back panel. There is also a headphone jack and a card reader.
In the thinnest place the thickness of the case is 13.1 mm, in the thickest - 17.5. Laptop weighs 1.3 kg.
The battery, as you can see, is not removable. Data on battery life yet. Although both speakers are on the bottom panel, Dolby Home Theater promises sound in them.
