Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi create a single manufacturer of touchscreen LCD displays for mobile devices.

In some cases, even competitors may combine to counter any danger. For Japanese companies
Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi are such a danger from Korean and Taiwanese manufacturers of LCD displays, products that differ in quality (in most cases) and low price. Separately, these corporations find it difficult to compete with Korean and Thai manufacturers, and the companies, together with the Japanese government, decided to create a single manufacturer of LCD displays for mobile devices. According to the authors of the project, it will be the world's largest manufacturer of such products.

Now the deal has just been announced, and plans will be realized by the end of next spring. The Japanese hope that after the merger, the resulting conglomerate will be able to successfully compete with Sharp Corp and Samsung Electronics.

Of course, such a large project requires investments in billions of dollars, and such investments are provided by Innovation Network Corp of Japan, which is 90% owned by the Japanese government. This fund will provide $ 2.5 billion, approximately 70% of the required investment. Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi will provide another 30% of the investment, 10% each. Accordingly, each of these companies will own 10% of the shares of the newly-minted manufacturer of LCD displays. The Fund Innovation Network Corp of Japan, as you might guess, will own 70% of the shares.

Experts estimate the growth in the market for LCD displays for mobile devices at $ 54.8 billion by 2015.
