New at IFA 2011: Thinkpad tablet, Tablet S and Tablet P, Xperia arc S

Every year, on December 31, we go to the bathhouse with the men. Every autumn, the troops of Nomobile.ru disembark in Berlin and seize the electronics exhibition held there. The first day of IFA 2011 ended and this is what we managed to find out.

At 18:00 Moscow time, Sony presented two tablets under the simple names Tablet S and Tablet P. We managed to drag the first to the editor and make a video about it beforehand, and Kim Korshunov tells about the second right from the company's stand.

When I first saw the Sony Tablet S, I thought: oh, well, at least something unusual! And when he got into my hands, I generally jumped for joy, as he did not slow down. That is, in general. Not a bit. Not even a hint of lag when flipping through desktops. It turns out that at least one device appeared on Android 3, which, by its “responsiveness”, can be compared to an iPad! Hooray! Viva La Sony =)

At the same time inside the pill all the same “heart” beats as in the tablets of other manufacturers - NVIDIA Tegra 2. What prevents them from doing the same? ..




On the right side there is a power button, volume controls and the good old “pin” reset.


On the left - a headphone jack, and under the cap - a micro-USB port and a slot for full-sized SD-cards.


The backdrop is glossy, but to prevent fingerprints from remaining, it is covered in goosebumps. Bottom - contact pad for connecting to the docking station, and on the sides - a pair of speakers.

Previously, both tablets were known as S1 and S2, but shortly before IFA 2011, Sony decided that they would name the models differently, dividing them into two lines: P and S. The Sony Tablet S does not look quite familiar: the thickness of the device is not uniform. In the upper part it is 20.23 mm, and in the lower part 7.62 mm. In the hands of the gadget is great, so that with the caliber of the developers did not miss.



It is clear that Sony has always focused on those people who follow the fashion and, we are not afraid of this word, are not alien to glamor. But here came a clear overkill: at first glance at the gadget, only one association arises: “a hybrid of soap and cosmetics”. But perhaps this impression is caused by a very superficial acquaintance with the Sony Tablet P.



But the characteristics are impressive: Tablet P is running a dual-core Tegra 2 CoS processor with a clock frequency of 1 GHz. The operating system is Android 3.2. The diagonal of each of the two displays of the gadget is 5.5 inches, it is made using TruBlack technology, which is already known to us on Sony Bravia TVs, the resolution is 1024x800 pixels. There are also two cameras: a front (or in this case internal?) With a VGA resolution and a main one with a 5 megapixel matrix. There is also a slot for SD-cards, microUSB and 4 GB of internal memory. The battery life will obviously be quite long. The battery in the Sony Tablet P is pretty serious - 3080 mAh!



Sales of new products in Europe will begin very soon. Tablet S will appear on store shelves in September, at a price of 479 euros. The "clamshell" will have to wait a little longer - until November and have to fork out for 599 euros.

A Lenovo finally showed what was already announced in July - a Thinkpad business tablet with its own special chips.



Interestingly, the 10.1-inch ThinkPad has no name of its own — it is simply called the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet. To be honest, the gadget is a little upset: on its front surface there is so much gloss, which is very bright in the sun, which is enough for the Galaxy Tab and iPad combined. But the glass here, like the laptop X1, is not simple - Corning Gorilla, and the display itself is made using IPS technology, the resolution is 1280x800.


But the back of the tablet - is another matter. The touch is the same as the cover of a ThinkPad notebook. The camera (which is on the right above) is five-megapixel. Frontal resolution - 2 Mp.


Despite the serious thickness (14.5 mm), the tablet is very light: the ThinkPad Tablet weighs only 740 grams. With the connectors, everything is even very good: there is not only a slot for a sim card, an SD card reader, miniHDMI, microUSB, a dock connector, but also a full USB 2.0.


Inside the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet is Nvidia Tegra 2, gigabytes of RAM and SSD-drive on 16/32/64 gigabytes. Works tablet running Android 3.1. Battery life, they say, is enough for eight hours of battery life.


The tablet is already available for pre-order. The minimum configuration of Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet will cost $ 499, the maximum - at 669. True, we are talking about the States.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc will be updated soon. There are no visual differences, all changes relate to the filling and functionality. But we, just in case, examined him and externally.



The number one difference: a 1.4 GHz processor instead of a 1 GHz processor in the first Arc. According to the developers, smartphone performance has increased by 25%.



The difference number two: the ability to shoot three-dimensional panoramas and then watch them on Sony Bravia TVs.



Difference number three: DLNA support. Give more photos and videos on Facebook - good and different! The new “arch” will be released in three colors: silver, black and white.
