Do I need a “Subject” field for my blog?

I am redoing I am completing the forum module (for my CMS system) in order to make blogs based on it.

I decided to do everything in one module, since the principles of data storage and working with them are similar. In addition, it will allow, if necessary, to create common groups for forums and blogs on the site, as well as use a single search engine.

However, today, when writing the next method (procedure), I had a question:
Do I need a “subject” field for a blog or enough comment text?

On Habré such a field is not used, but on LJ it is (although it is also rarely used).
I’m used to the fact that in the forums (especially the tree-like ones) the “subject” field is quite important: it’s easier to find messages, and also, when they are big enough, you can display their list as topics of messages. However, in this case, I don’t know how to do it better, since I am doing an open CMS system for general use (the “clean” forum module is now used).
