Mailing: Down with crutches!

Hi, habraverstalchikam!

After a long lull, I hasten to share new observations on crutches during layout, as well as pleasant changes in this regard. This article is a remastering of the past topic of crutches in the layout of mailings. Why remastering and why? It's simple! The highly respected "Demons" (email clients and web interfaces) changed visually and fixed their bugs. Well, let's start!

Mail.ru


The first thing these guys did was change the design to a more “lightweight” and enjoyable email interface. Moreover, everything is turned up by divs! Now they will not cite mails as an example, saying that they make up tables and are not steamed. As one character on the Internet says: “And this is good!”

This is not the end of the story. The development team took up the parser mailer and fixed one nasty bug, which was that the BR tag was duplicated for example in this design:

It turned into something like this:
 <span style="font-family:arial; font-size:12px; color:#404040;">Lorem[br/][br/]Ipsum[br/][br/]Dolor[br/][br/]Sit[br/][br/]Amet</span> 

It was necessary to enclose each separate line of text in a separate div and span with its own styles. Now a crutch is not necessary. Thanks to the mail.ru team for such a nice little thing!

Yahoo! mail


Progress does not stand still, and the old skins of terrible postal demons are no longer intimidating. Yahoo! also completely updated their interface, giving it a purple color. The design is not so “light” as in mail.ru, but nevertheless it is quite pleasant in work.

And then everything just goes on. Diligent programmers have fixed a bug about which I wrote earlier. It consisted in the fact that a span tag with the class yshortcuts, which declared its default styles for this link, was randomly inserted into some links. Now everything is in order, the appearance of this "devil" was no longer noticeable.

Gmail


I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that even everyone’s beloved demon corrected a small bug. Previously observed underline image links. It was treated by the cancellation of decorating links. But now everything is fine, you can safely forget about this crutch.

Yandex Mail


Yandex parser still colors links in red when hovering, which means - important! in all color styles relative to links. The rest of the postal service, in fact, just did not change anything in their work.

And again about the reply


I know that I’m talking about this far from the first time, but many of the services that are promoting the Habré still sin with this rule. Yes, some insert a link to the unsubscribe, which leads to the authorization page in the service. Some simply say: “Go to the site yourself, log in, go to the settings, and you will already find how to unsubscribe”. Is it really so difficult to generate a unique token for each letter when sending out so that the user can unsubscribe by direct link? You (services), of course, as you wish, but I send such letters to spam. After all, it is easier than to go through authorization and unsubscribe;)
