Exactly 10 years ago, on August 24, 2001, Windows XP RTM was published. Despite such a long time, this operating system still occupies a large part of the market, has firmly established itself on millions of computers, and is still competing with Vista and Windows 7.
According to Net Applications statistics, XP is still used on 49.69% of computers (July 2011 data), but the share of Windows 7 is growing rapidly and has already reached 27.92%.
Support for Windows XP will be discontinued in April 2014, and Microsoft does not plan any additional updates after Service Pack 3.
Happy Birthday, Windows XP!
