A full build of Chromium WebKit for Android is being created.
Google representatives posted a message to the WebKit-Dev developer group, which described the current status of porting the WebKit engine to Android and announced future plans.
In this letter, Google representatives express regret that "for various reasons, the work on porting WebKit to Android took longer than expected and has not yet been completed." They also agree that the existence of an unfinished browser Android port was confusing.
In the future, they will try to get rid of this confusion. Google representatives explained that the Android Browser code is getting closer and closer to Chrome (both WebKit and Chromium). Therefore, it's time to create a full-fledged Chromium assembly for Android, which Google promises to support with all its might. At the same time, the current unfinished Android port will be removed.
