Creative advertising to find programmers

It’s not easy to make a good advertisement - it’s not for nothing that usually specially trained people who call themselves marketers and copywriters do it .

Moreover, this question is relevant not only to attract customers, but also to find new employees. Here, too, it is necessary that the advertisement attracted attention and contained all the necessary information.

But is it also realistic to ensure that such an advertisement serves as a kind of test of “professional suitability”, sifting out those candidates who will not take this first barrier?

Long ago (back in 2006) we had a similar experience, and I want to share it with you.

We were looking for talented programmers with knowledge of C # who used TDD and with experience in teamwork. At the same time, we just wanted to advertise ourselves on the labor market, as well as give a person detailed instructions on how to get a job from us.

Then, after a short brainstorming session, we decided to use the same language that we use ourselves in our work, and the knowledge of which we require from our applicants. And this is what came of it:



This ad appeared in some print publications of our city and fit just one page. In our opinion, it turned out to be quite elegant and memorable - not only did it do its job, but it also remained in the memory of those who stumbled upon it, flipping through the program schedule.

It should be noted that in this ad, everything remains true and to date - and working conditions, and our leading position among the creators of .NET and VCL components. Is that the list of technologies added to Silverlight and WPF, and the values ​​of the elements of the salaryLevels array have grown :-)
