Windows Phone SDK 7.1 Release Candidate and Marketplace opening for Mango applications

Today, the Windows Phone SDK development team has released Release Candidate development tools for our mobile OS. Now you can download the tools themselves, and the documentation was updated on MSDN in the morning.



The main changes made to RC compared to Beta2 concern improvements in the work of the profiler and the transfer of the emulator to the RTM version of the OS (build 7720). In addition, there are a couple of small but pleasant additions:

1. The emulator now has a built-in tool for taking screenshots.
2. The Marketplace Test Kit appeared, allowing you to conduct a technical test of the application for compliance with Marketplace policies. This does not cover all aspects of testing before publication, but will help to reveal a considerable part of the errors usually made when publishing applications.

The main news, perhaps, is that we open the AppHub and Marketplace to download Mango-applications! Starting today, by building an application using Windows Phone SDK 7.1 and specifying Windows Phone OS 7.1 as Target OS in project properties, you can publish it - with all the new features, such as multiple Live Tiles, Fast App Switching support, sockets, work with the camera and many many others.


By the way, it is useful to remind you that in order to support Fast App Switching in existing applications you need only to rebuild the application “under Windows Phone OS 7.1”.
Download the Windows Phone SDK 7.1 Release Candidate , rebuild and publish the Mango versions of your applications so that the happy owners of phones with the new OS can use all its advantages with your applications. Naturally, be sure to test the performance of your application under Windows Phone Mango!

As we remember , the version for Windows Phone 7.0 will also be available after downloading xap under Mango, the metadata (description, screenshots, etc.) will be common to both versions.
