The local court ruled to block access to two sites: leakymails.com and leakymails.blogspot.com, but many Argentinean Internet providers instead simply blocked the IP address 216.239.32.21 , with the result that more than a million blogs were hosted by Argentinean users on the blogger platform at that IP address.
Google’s official blog expresses bewilderment about such an “indiscriminate” filtering method that violates the freedom of speech and the rights of hundreds of thousands of other blog owners. The company's legal service has already begun negotiations with local authorities to resolve the situation.
Attorneys for free speech at Google also mention that this is not the only case of unfair IP filtering. For example, the Indian authorities in the same way blocked the IP address of the University of Hindu Unity, and with it - a few more sites that have nothing to do with the offender.
