According to Google’s official corporate blog, the company uses the Google Search Appliance (its own integrated hardware and software for corporate search) with a bunch of unique and interesting things to search the intranet.

On the internal search, Google is running around new technologies - for this, there is a special flag under the search field that allows employees to search for information using an alternative interface, where, in fact, experiments are conducted, such as different search results, a new interesting implementation of OneBox ... After a successful internal testing, technology has every chance to get to the main page.
