Stanford’s recently announced free online course on the basics of artificial intelligence caused a real stir among the public. 81 966 people have already applied for registration. This is understandable: the course is led by Peter Norvig and Sebastian Tran - real stars. The former worked at NASA and wrote an AI textbook, while the latter develops the world's best robotic cars (for Google).
It is obvious that people need a quality education through the Internet and it is becoming more and more popular. Therefore, before the start of the school year, it makes sense to recall the list of 13 free Stanford Engineering training courses . Unlike Norvig and Tran’s lectures, these are not online courses, but old courses. Video records of all lectures from the first to the last, PDFs with assignments and other materials are already available for free access, but here you cannot ask a question to the teacher. Introduction to Computer Science Programming Methodology (CS106A) Abstractions in programming (CS106B) Programming Paradigms (CS107)
In addition, it is worth mentioning two more new Stanford free online courses that were added this year - “Introduction to Databases” (October 10 - December 12, Professor Jennifer Weed gives lectures)
and "Machine learning" (October 10 - December 16, lectures delivered by Professor Andrew Ng ). This is a continuation of the introductory course, which is listed in the list above (it is led by the same professor).
As in the case of AI, here students after passing exams will receive not a Stanford diploma, but a personal certificate from an instructor.
