Today I came across a surprise when downloading a program to iTunes Connect for publishing in the AppStore. My program uses encryption to protect information from unauthorized distribution. Encryption applications are restricted by US law and are controlled
by the Department of Commerce and Industry (DOC) Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) . For those who are interested - what was and what became ...
All documents and Internet texts are in English, so I will not quote them, I will give links to the original and give my translation here.In the current
iTunesConnect Developer Guide v.6.9 of 07/20/2011 there is a section “Export Resolution and Legislative Problems”.

')
This screenshot shows the questions, answering any of which is YES, you need to provide a document from the DOC BIS that the program is classified as “
Mass Market Classification ”. More information on how to get such a document can be found
here . Or more abbreviated and formal version on the official website of the
Department .
The US legislation has
changed since January 7, 2011, the French legislation has also
changed recently, and accordingly, the procedure for publishing in the AppStore has also changed. In the screenshot below, the questions that are now asked when the program is published (depending on YES / NO, they are slightly different, but the general essence is the same - provide the permission document).

The link at the top of the screenshot leads
here . Apple's proposed logic says the following.
- Export authorization is not required if the application complies with a Category 5 exception Part 2, namely, encryption is used:
- (a) in products for medical use
- (b) to protect intellectual property
- (c) to authorize, digitally sign, or decrypt data files
- (d) for banking use only or “cash transactions”
- (e) in certain data compression or coding algorithms
- (f) in annex which corresponds to Comment 4 to Category 5 Part 2
- For products published from France, two export approvals are required - from the USA and from France
Such changes for Russia simplify and accelerate the publication of a very large class of programs for which permission was previously required. Obtaining such permission takes 30-45 days.
The official FAQ in iTunes Connect (available for developers) has a section entitled “
World Wide Trade Compliance for the App Store ”, where you can find a more detailed description of the new conditions.
