Paper capable of storing 450GB of information, “The Story” about new technologies
According to Arab News, a student at the University of Technology Sainul Abideen invented a method for storing a huge amount of digital data on a simple sheet of paper. In fact, Abidin says his “rainbow technology” allows you to record up to 450GB of information on a piece of paper. But as a result of the demonstration, technology still requires development.
Abidin claims that his Rainbow system is better than the usual binary memory system, since it uses geometric shapes, such as squares and hexagons, to represent information instead of zeros and ones. Color is also used in the system to represent other elements of information. As the developer says, all that is needed to read Rainbow data is a scanner and specialized software.
Arab News reporter says a 45-second video clip was shown at the demonstration, recorded using Rainbow Technology on a plain sheet of paper. But if this technology allows you to record 450GB, then soon we will be able to store full-length movies in high quality on a simple sheet of paper. ')
One of the main advantages of the Rainbow system is that it will cost a lot less than regular polycarbonate DVDs or CDs. Abidin says huge data banks can be built on Rainbow technology data carriers.
At the moment, the Abidin system is still at the development stage at the Muslim Educational Society and although no large company has yet become interested in technology, its author is confident in its success. As stated in the report, Abidin is now diligently developing the Rainbow scanner, which should be small enough to be integrated into laptops. If successful, the Rainbow Printer will be next in line.
