Open set for courses on bioinformatics (St. Petersburg)
A set of courses on bioinformatics has been opened at the St. Petersburg Academic University of the Russian Academy of Sciences for 2011/2012.
The courses are free and focused on students of secondary and senior courses in computer science and mathematical specialties interested in bioinformatics.
The main objectives are to teach the participants:
to be guided in modern tasks of bioinformatics and to be able to solve them,
understand biological terms and formulate new tasks at the interface of computer science / biology,
develop bioinformatics-specific algorithms and program them effectively.
Differences from last year:
included more courses on algorithms and programming,
Some topics poorly related to bioinformatics have been thrown out of the biological program, and new topics on biotechnology have been added.
