Amazon has released an HTML5 application called
Kindle Cloud Reader that allows you to read Kindle books both online and offline, without the need for installation. The application is optimized for Chrome browsers (on Mac, Windows, Linux and Chromebook) and Safari (on Mac, Windows and iPad).
Especially Amazon emphasizes optimization for the iPad. Last month, Apple introduced new rules for applications, requiring developers to remove external links to sites where users can purchase digital content bypassing Apple. Because of this, users had to close the application and open the browser each time they bought Kindle books.

Now you can open Cloud Reader in Safari and buy books in the same window. The link to the web application can be saved on the main screen along with the rest of the applications.
User libraries are automatically synchronized between the Kindle Cloud Reader and other applications and Kindle devices. This means that if you stop on the sixth page while reading in your browser, you can continue reading from the same place in your Kindle reader or on your iPad.
