August 6 in St. Petersburg was the first Geek Picnic
On Saturday, we took part in Geek Picnic on New Holland Island. Despite the queues, strict screening and so on, the concept of the event itself is quite good. We took Dandy Picnic, hooked up to a big screen and set up sofas with cushions in the open air. Inside one of the pavilions was also our Xbox Kinect. In addition to entertainment from ITmozg, were presented: - interactive stand FIRMA + 2Nova (from pieces of photographs of several people it was necessary to collect your face); - the design of the webcam and speakers, designed to convert the movements of people into sounds; - laser projection controlled from the tablet; - one small robot; - 3D printer; - unicycle and jumpers; - basketball, badminton, table tennis, frisbee; - grass, chaise lounges, geeks.
Inside a detailed photo report + video.

The island of New Holland, which had been closed for three centuries, was recently opened to the public, and a temporary summer holiday zone was located on its territory. The most delicious part of the island, where abandoned storage buildings are located, is unfortunately not available.
On the island’s territory there is a beautiful pond surrounded by two hundred-year-old buildings:
There are pavilions with food, store and information, tucked into shipping containers. Separately, there is a garden where various companies measure themselves with carrots:
A ramp is attached to one of the pavilions:
It is very convenient to climb onto the roof of the pavilion, covered with grass:

Our oasis with Dandy:
Children 8-12 years old play much better than adults. Moreover, the first had never seen him in the eye:
Next door is the joint FIRMA + 2Nova Interactive stand:
There was a relaxed party around with games of frisbee, badminton and attempts to conquer the monocycle (unicycle). Half of the visitors claimed the photographers:
“Do not confuse geeks and hipsters!”:
In the smoking room, two young boys unexpectedly showed up, who smoked, spat, and cursed. Our Olga immediately troll them:
The boys at the sight of the lens began to poke cigarettes. It was not there - a silent reproach appeared in front of them:
Separately, the topics of the reports “Microsoft’s Mobile Development or Why Apple is Doomed”, “Why and Why”, stated in the program, pleased us, and once again running past the stage, we heard a piece of the report on how to teach three-year-olds to program.
