Rosreestr put in the free access satellite images of the Russian Federation with a resolution of 50 cm
The Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Elvira Nabiullina, signed an order “On the determination of requirements for maps and plans, which are the cartographic basis of the state real estate cadastre” ( text of the document ).
Representatives of the Rosreestr explained in an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper that satellite images and corresponding maps of the area will be posted free of charge (for non-commercial use) on the portal of the Rosreestr . They hope that due to this the attendance of the portal will increase tenfold.

Competitions for the purchase of satellite images Rosreestr plans to announce in the coming months, writes the newspaper Vedomosti, citing the deputy head of the Rosreestr Sergey Sapelnikov. 600 million rubles were allocated for this. According to experts, this is quite a realistic budget, taking into account the wholesale discounts.
For comparison, satellite images with a resolution of 1 m with a total area of more than 500,000 km 2 are placed in the Yandex.Maps database. The portal Rosreestr will cover more than 5 million km 2 .
