Smart Modular Technologies introduced the world's fastest SSD drive

This device, created by engineers, called Optimus SSD. This drive surprises with its two characteristics: the volume and speed of reading information. The storage capacity is a record 1.6 terabytes. And the speed of reading data is 1 gigabyte per second. Agree, very impressive performance. At the same time, the write speed is 500 MB / s. The manufacturer also supplies other models of Optimus SSD, with a capacity of 400, 800 and 200 gigabytes. Unfortunately, so far there is no information about how much such drives will cost.

One thing is clear - such a device cannot be cheap. The developers claim that the Optimus SSD drives are very productive, have a large volume and are very reliable. All this is made possible by the use of the new Guardian technology, which includes several new proprietary developments: FlashGuard (TM), DataGuard (TM), and EverGuard (TM).

Through the use of FlashGuard (TM), such devices have increased reliability, which previously no one expected from an SSD. The guaranteed lifetime of the device is 5 years (with a mode of 10 cycles of complete rewriting of all data per day). FlashGuard manages MLC NAND flash memory and prevents rapid cell wear. The remaining two technologies, DataGuard and EverGuard, allow you to protect the data recorded on the device. Optimus SSD supports encryption technologies and standards such as TCG and T10 DIF.

According to the company's management, Optimus SSD is primarily designed to work in large companies that need the reliability of information carriers, their high speed and large volume. The start of sales of the Optimus SSD is scheduled for September 2011. Probably, then it will be possible to find out how much such a miracle costs.
