IXtreamer Media Player Overview
Recently, inprice gave me a rather interesting Xtreamer iXtreamer media player for testing. I have long been a user of their products, since the time of the first Extremer, now called Sidewinder.
By itself, Iikstrimer combines 2 devices: the good old Ikstrimer / Sidevinder and dock for the devices of the company Apple, namely Aypadov, iPods and iPhones.

Plays MPEG1, 2 and 4, both from files and from streams; VOB, AVI, ASF, WMV, MKV, AVC HD, MOV, MP4, RMP4, FLV, AAC, M4A, RTSP, MPEG 1, 2 and 3, WAV, WMA, FLAC, OGG, FLC, PCM, PLSX.
Knows all popular decoders:
H.264, XVID, DIVX, VP6 and 8, DTS -HD MA and -HD HR with five- and seven-channel sound
Also supported subtitles in formats SRT, SMI, SUB, SSA, IDX. And you can connect them from an external file. Ayikstyrmer even knows how to read ISO discs, DVD menus and BluRay discs.
In general, most likely, the player will be able to reproduce everything that you want to see on it.
It is absolutely clear that in order to play 12-20 gigabyte files you will need to connect the device to the wired network, but if you are not a fan of flawless diggers, then you can easily connect Eikstmermer via Wi-Fi just by using either the original antenna from the manufacturer or any USB adapters on the Ralink RT3070 chipset.
Iikstrimer can pick up files from the standard network folders Windows, Samba-ball, NFS, as well as UPnP or DLNA. And all this really and stably works in contrast to many similar devices. If for some reason you do not want to connect it to the network, then you can install a 3.5 hard disk with a size of up to 3 terabytes or connect external usb-media. Unfortunately, 2.5-disks are not supported by the design, but I came up with a hack:
In Aidok's mode, the device works like a real Epla product;) As soon as you insert your Ayustroystvo into a special plug, the device immediately turns into a TV device with a flick of the wrist ... into a content repeater. Moreover, the useful effect is that your iPhone, iPad or iPod charge. There are a few exceptions with charging: The iPod 4-j, 5-j and classic are not compatible with Ixtrimer charging.
The control menu in Idock is so simple that even a child will understand it.

It is also important to note that Iikstrimer supports most well-known content web services: YouTube, Picasa, Yahoo Video, CNN, NBC Today, CBS Face the Nation, Live365 Radio, iPodcast, Radiobox, ABC News, BBC Podcast, CNN News, Indiefeed, Jamendo, as well as RSS feeds. The latest version of the software has added support for Facebook.
Owners of paid accounts on Megaapload can use their Megavideo VOD service to watch movies directly via the Internet. Among the online services, I would like to mention two that allow you to watch live channels. For example, I watch Russia from all television 24, and now I can do it on TV through Ayikstrimer.

The system itself provides the ability to write any extensions, so if you want to present your service in the Ixtermere interface, then you can do this by simply writing a plugin. Fortunately, it uses open technologies: PHP, Curl, lighttpd, and the firmware is on the manufacturer’s website.
By the way, the player has a web interface through which you can change device settings.

In fact, the device causes mixed feelings because it is aimed at two fundamentally different audiences: the first is those who will use it as Sidewinder, that is, they are familiar with balls, UPnP, USB-drive browsers that can insert a hard disk. The second is the owners of the devices that do not want and will not do anything of the previously listed. It's funny that Ayikstrimer separately 100% can satisfy both audiences, in the first case - the choice of a million ways to view and configure multiplied by stable work. In the second, Epla's “It Just Works” concept is clearly maintained. It is difficult to imagine that someone used the two parts of Iiikstrimer simultaneously.
I would still recommend this device to those who want to watch videos from iPads and iPhones on TV. You will be pleasantly surprised by the simplicity and adherence to the ideology of Epla.
In the end, I would like to notice one minus. In Iiikstrimer instead of the red-black combination in the interface made a blue-black. Because of this, many parts of the interface, such as lists and progress bars, have become indistinguishable. Probably worth the "fart fonts."
Summing up, I repeat that Iikstrimer is the good old Sidewinder with the support of the Iusters. From an aesthetic point of view, it is not without flaws, for example, the build quality contrasts strongly with the Aipad inserted into it, but as a device that performs a function, it is good.
