Joost scored a million testers and will start by the end of the year

The founders of the Joost Internet TV peer-to-peer system held a press conference in Estonia at which they spoke about the first results of beta testing and about the plans for the official launch of the project.

Founder and CEO of startup Niklas Zennström said that by now the number of beta testers has exceeded one million. Since the launch of the project The Venice Project (as Joost was called earlier) at the end of last year, this is the first time that Zennstrom has revealed the size of the audience.

As the number of users grows, the problem of high-quality content broadcasting over the peering network arises. Recall that the Joost system is based on the same peer-to-peer technology of the Joltid Global Index as Skype and Kazaa. The difference is that an add-in to the Global Index was created, designed specifically for broadcasting video. The development of the system is carried out by Estonian programmers.
