SMS service is 15 years old

This week, the world telecom experienced another memorable date - the Short Message Service was fifteen years old.

SMS fans should thank Acision, which in 1992 first launched a service that allows mobile phone owners to send and receive short text messages, and paging companies to start thinking about business diversification.

For fifteen years, the service has undergone many iterations, and mobile operators have learned how to process not 10 messages per second, as in 1992, but almost an unlimited number of them.
