As of the end of June 2007, the total number of households connected to the Internet in Moscow was 1.55 million. At the same time, 1.34 million apartments are connected to broadband channels, according to a recent ComNews Research study (
PDF ).
At the end of June 2007, more than 150 Internet service providers operated in Moscow. The highest level of competition is observed in the Northern Administrative District, where services are provided by more than 40 providers. The distribution of private broadband users by providers is shown in the table.

The highest level of Internet penetration among the administrative districts of Moscow is observed in the Southern Administrative District - in it, 58.81% of all households have access to the network. The lowest level of internet users home users is shown by the Western Administrative District.

The highest level of broadband Internet access among the administrative districts of Moscow is observed in Zelenograd - 56.1% of all households. In the second place in terms of penetration of broadband access services in the segment of private users is the Southern Administrative District - 50.9%. The lowest level of penetration of dedicated access services is demonstrated by the Eastern Administrative District - 33.8%.
The study was conducted by the method of personal formalized interview. A total of 3,136 effective interviews were conducted. The total sample size for which the survey was conducted was 9,800 telephone numbers. The sample was taken from the MGTS database containing 3,466,395 records (duplicate numbers were deleted). The sample is simple, random, non-repeatable, with the correction of the realized sample by administrative districts, correction based on official data on the population of the administrative districts of Moscow.
