In October, will begin voluntary certification of online stores

A lot of noise was made by the story of getting data from customers of more than 80 online stores into free access. On the fresh tracks, the Distance Trading Association and Roskomnadzor are creating technical advice, whose main mission is to tell online store owners how to safely protect personal data of users.

The decision to create a technical council was made at a meeting of Roman Sheredin (deputy head of Roskomnadzor) and Alexander Ivanov (president of the Distance Trading Association). The council will include representatives of the association, online stores, officials, perhaps representatives of Yandex and Google (invitations sent). The technical council will specialize in developing recommendations for the protection of personal data of customers.

Online stores that comply with these recommendations are more likely to undergo voluntary certification, which is scheduled to begin in autumn 2011.
According to Ivanov, voluntary certification of IM will include an assessment of the storage conditions of personal data, lists of employees who have access to them, software used by the store, etc. In addition, he believes that this measure will increase the loyalty of potential customers and even increase sales. The main condition for success, according to M.Osin, a representative of the largest commercial resource Ozon.ru, is the buyer's awareness of the presence of a quality mark in an online store.

As for Europe, there are insignia of online stores that comply with trade rules and standards, assigns self-regulatory organization Trusted Shops.

It is not known how Russian online stores will react to certification, because they share information on order servicing extremely reluctantly.
