VMware revised volume of vRAM entitlement in vSphere 5

Hallelujah! A huge stream of complaints about the new licensing model was heard at VMware. Although it is worth getting better - VMware customers were outraged not so much by the new licensing model, but by those low volumes of permitted vRAM for one license. In principle, such a suspicion arose almost immediately after the release of vSphere 5. I know that literally a couple of days after VMware realized that they had miscalculated, they began a large-scale customer survey on the ratio of physical memory on hosts, the number of virtual machines and vRAM assigned to them. Today it is like a rumor, but already confirmed from authoritative sources, and I personally trust them. So, what we already know: I am a person who is not personally interested in the profits of this company, but nevertheless I am glad of this news and I think that VMware has given a decent response to the enormous amount of criticism that could be observed in the blogosphere in the last couple of weeks. I am personally interested in another question - was it really so difficult for VMware directors to calculate customer reactions in advance? And it seems to me that the main miscalculation was that in VMware itself there was no reliable data on how their products are used by customers. Perhaps now VMware will pay more attention to gathering information from clients. This wonderful news has been found here . A VMware acquaintance has just confirmed that the rumors are true - he didn’t reveal the numbers, but said that they can be easily found on the Internet. The official announcement of the licensing change is expected on August 3rd.
