Taiwan technology giant Foxconn will replace some of its employees with robots. At the moment, 10,000 robots are working on the conveyor, next year their number will reach 300,000, and within three years - to a million. Thus, Foxconn is trying to reduce costs, increase production efficiency and at the same time respond to the criticism that human rights activists have recently expressed in its address. Ostensibly, Foxconn factories turned into a “sweating” with poor working conditions and low wages, and among the employees a high suicide rate.
The robots will perform simple and routine work, such as painting, welding and assembling devices. This news was announced by the company's founder and director, Terry Gow, at a staff party on Friday. Foxconn is the world's largest manufacturer of computer components that executes orders from Apple, Sony and Nokia. The company has 1.2 million people. Perhaps 50-70% of them can be fired after the automation of production. In general, all Chinese factories should follow a similar path if they want to maintain low production costs in the context of the current wage growth and rising living standards.
On specific models of robots is not officially reported. But it is known that a few months ago a contract for the supply of FRBA robots manufactured by ABB was discussed . ')
