Obama called on Americans to tweet congressmen on raising the national debt ceiling

US President Barack Obama recently stepped up on Twitter, sometimes starting to write tweets on his own and even hold press conferences based on questions from Twitter users. On Friday, in his speech to the American public, Barack Obama called on American citizens to “call, write, and tweet” their congressmen about the problem of the national debt ceiling.

As you know, the US Treasury is on the verge of running out of cash, and the government has a limit on borrowing. Obama asked lawmakers to raise the debt ceiling, and the Democrats and the Republicans are now negotiating about it. The president is in a desperate situation because of the debt ceiling and has relied on the American people to put pressure on the legislators and raise the ceiling before the treasury runs out of cash.

By the way, the other day it became known that even Apple has more money (cash and cash equivalents) than on the entire operating balance of the US government. If Epla has 75.876 billion dollars, then the American government has only 73.768 billion.

After Obama’s speech, his employees began to tweet the usernames of each state’s legislators, asking users: “Tweet your Republican representative and ask them to support a bipartisan solution to the deficit crisis.”

For a little more than four hours, more than 100 tweets were written with the @BarackObama account. Imagine a hundred monotonous tweets like “Texas Republicans on Twitter: @michaelcburgess (TX-26), @farenthold (TX-27), @petesessions (TX-32)”.

It is not surprising that since the start of this unique campaign, the number of Obama followers has decreased by 37,000. This number seems insignificant compared to 9 million of all his followers, but this is the first noticeable decrease in them. In addition, many users began to complain about the flurry of tweets, accusing the president of spamming.

But the loss of Obama partially turned into an increase in the number of followers from Republicans. In total, thanks to the Obama campaign, the Republicans had about 6,500 new followers.
