Museum of video cards in Kharkov. History of creation
From idea to implementation sometimes cost years. But taking the first step with a sincere interest in the right direction is already difficult to stop. Currently, there are already about 200 video cards in the museum, an interview about a project on the radio air of Ukrainian cities, an army of people interested and helping people, the museum’s access to Russian spaces ... and it all began with a simple closed exposition at the end of 2010.
Video cards have always aroused genuine interest in me. It is worth saying that this “always” begins with the distant 1998 (as per IT standards). That year, I got access to an uncle computer based on the Celeron 266 (yes, the one without the L2 cache) and the S3 ViRGE DX video card with 2 MB of memory. How I dreamed then about buying additional 2 MB more.

Then it seemed to me that this would solve my problems with the impossibility of launching some games.
Time passed, experience accumulated, information was systematized, and generations of graphics adapters changed. The journals of those years were filled with video cards inaccessible to me, which amazed the imagination not only with price, but with its own power ... and beauty.

It all started with this shelf, sheltered the first video card.
At the end of 2010, I had already accumulated about 35 exhibits and, thanks to the support of the PCshop Group company, supports for graphic adapters were created. But still there was no open access.
However, this was already enough to understand: the museum has potential. People came, were interested, asked, brought the old accelerators, extracted from the storerooms and closets.
The exposition of video cards, which reached 56 pieces, began to very quickly displace all the free space.
And the Kharkiv residents who were not indifferent to the museum were all carrying and carrying new exhibits.
In early 2011, we managed to get the first showcase in the sales area of ​​the PCshop Group store on Pushkinskaya.
Nostalgia for the good old games. Designed the surrounding windows accordingly.
Officially, the museum was opened on March 9.
In late April, created another exposure, about 90 cards.
It was already possible to be photographed against the background of the museum for everyone who brought new exhibits.
